Evaluation: Achieving the Aim

primary school girl in period costume

The intention of the evaluation process in this area was to ascertian how the various partners felt they had developed in relation to the stated aims of the project. In what ways had preconceptions regarding the scope and value of museum and gallery education been moved forward and how, if at all, was this particular training initiative likely to impact on day-to-day practice in the different worlds inhabited by all the partners? The dialogue heard here (pdf transcription available) is in response to the following questions:

To the trainees. . . Did you have misgivings, if any, before the placement? How do you feel now about these types of placements – do you think they are worthwhile?

To the teachers & ITE providers. . . At the start of the project did you or your colleagues have misgivings about this sort of placement? How do you feel now? What aspects of our work has been important (collaborative planning, training etc.)? How do you think this strand of work should be developed?

To the museum educators. . . Did you have misgivings about running the placement? How do you feel now? Do you think this is important work for museum education services to undertake ? What about you personally – if you did it again, what would you do differently, what would help?

To all participants. . . Could you tell us what you think has been particularly important in creating a positive learning experience for you during this placement and if there are things that would have added to it for you?
