Evaluation: Transferability

let there be light session

A central aim of the project was to ensure that what the trainee teachers learned in the museum and gallery setting was not context specific, but would inform a wider understanding of learning and teaching. Throughout the decosnstruction and analysis phases of the training, trainees were constantly required to think about what they had observed or undertaken in the wider context of their general practice. The video clips in this section offer some thoughts on the part of the trainees and teachers regarding how well the alternative setting fulfilled this aim.

The discussions stem from questions such as:

To the trainees. . . We've talked about how this placement has changed how you think about learning in museums but beyond that has the placement affected how you think about teaching, do you think any aspects of it might affect your classroom practice?
